Joyce Doiron
Joyce Doiron was born and raised in the Green Mountain State of Vermont. Marrying a United States Army officer, she began a thirty year adventure living and exploring the cultures of our world. Her formal training in the glass arts began in the fall of 1987 when she and her husband Nick returned to Sacramento to retire.

Joyce began with "cold glass" techniques constructing 2-D pieces using foil and lead. Her education continued as she took classes under top west coast artists learning fusing, slumping and manipulation. In 1989 she purchased her first kiln and her work expanded to 3-D using "warm and hot glass" - 1250 - 1500 degrees. In 1991 she purchased a sandblasting unit and began studying the art of design and sandblasting. To round out the final aspect of working with glass, Joyce took her first class working with really (!) "hot glass" - 2100 degrees, in 1996. Glass blowing was the direction she was heading until 1997 when moved her Verre de Couleur Studio to Del Paso Boulevard. The final step was taken when Joyce entered the business field and opened the Doiron Gallery in October of that year. She continues to be creative using her kiln and sandblaster when time allows.

Mel Gorre

Manuel (Mel) Gorre earned his B. A. Degree in Fine Arts from Sacramento State University but did not venture into full time painting until he retired from the position as the Civil Engineering Section Utilities Superintendent for Mather Air Force Base.

While he took only a passive interest in painting he feels fortunate to have taken several art courses under Wayne Thiebaud, who at that time (1953-54), taught oil painting classes at the Sacramento Jr. College.

Mel Gorre currently spends a good amount of time trying to catch up to a long neglected interest in painting.
